Abersychan School Crowned Torfaen 5x60 U14 Basketball Champions

The team made up of pupils from years 8 and 9 went to Cwmbran Stadium on Friday 2nd December to face teams from all secondary schools in Torfaen.

In their first game they played extremely well recording a victory over Crosyceiliog. As the tournament developed the team grew in confidence winning all their pool matches against West Mon, Fairwater and Llantarnam. In the final, Abersychan would come up against a more experienced and well drilled team in St Albans.

The Abersychan team took the game to their opponents early on in the first half and managed to secure the victory with some excellent defence in the second period.

The Abersychan Squad was: Jarrad Rosser, Sam Watkins, Liam Bould, Callum Bailey-Aitkin, Fraser Henderson, Leila Thomas, Amelia Page, Kelly Mahoney, Chloe Atkinson and Rebecca Carver.
